Sameenas Story . . .
Sameena joined the GEM Vending Team in September 2014 as a Sales and Marketing Apprentice. Since her initial introduction to the world of vending she’s come on leaps and bounds. Here’s how she’s achieved it . . .
Work, Earn and Learn!
While studying at Derby College doing AS Levels Sameena was unsure of the career path she wanted to take. She thought possibly something in social media. She went along to a jobs fair for apprentices where she met Marc, Simon and Nicola for an informal chat and left her CV with them.
Sameena attended a successful interview and started with GEM taking on admin tasks while studying with the college. Over the past 2½ years and with regular meetings with her tutor, Sameena has completed and passed Level 2 and 3 in Business Administration.
She is now a fully-fledged member of the department, recently representing GEM on their stand at the Leicester Business Exhibition. Sameena now undertakes all admin tasks including updating social media and website, dealing with ingredients sales, showroom bookings, stock takes, assisting our field operating team plus much, much more including administration for our charity!
Employee of the Month
Sameena was awarded Employee of the Month in September for (quote our chairman); “Demonstrating a hard working attitude and the willingness to be flexible, offer help and assistance wherever needed and creating a great relationship with both the field based staff and office colleagues”. We are thrilled to announce that she has since accepted a permanent position as Sales Administrator.
When asked for her take on working at GEM, Sameena said “I like working with everyone here, they are all very nice, kind people. Everyone works as a team and I feel like I’ve been given the opportunity to progress. I’ve been allowed to do all kinds of jobs and working here has definitely helped me grow in confidence”.
