Apple Pay: Everything you need to know
UK retailers are preparing for Apple Pay’s roll out across the UK from next Tuesday the 14th July 2015. This means customers will be able to pay for goods and services with their iphones and Apple watches for the first time. This was first introduced in the US in October last year and the contactless payment system is now hitting the UK.
What is Apple Pay?
Apple pay uses the near-field communication (NFC) chips embedded in your iphone 6, iphone 6 plus and Apple watch to pay for goods and services by holding the device near a card reader, as you would a normal contactless debit card.
This is great news for GEM Vending, as the card readers that we have fitted on many of our machines, will accept Apple Pay straight away. They are already able to accept contactless debit card payments, which is great as our society becomes more and more cashless. It’s an easy and convenient way to purchase a low-cost item e.g. chocolate bar, without having to have cash in your pocket.
