Meet Marc, Operations Manager at Gem Vending

Marc joined the GEM Team in March 2013 and is focused on ensuring our Field Team give an oustanding service at all times, keeping our customers happy.

We asked Marc to take a moment to tell us about himself:-

What inspired you to do what you do?

Well, I really enjoy working with people; I’m a problem solver at heart, which is why I guess I entered into management. My background is catering, so for me there was a natural progression from catering to vending, as there are many transferable skills that can be applied.  Essentially it’s a service provided by people for people.

What’s your biggest bugbear?

I hate people who have no manners, you know the type, the ones that walk through the door you’re holding with their hands in their pockets and head held low!! Grrrrr!!

Can you tell us a random fact about yourself?

I was born in Spain and lived there until I was five.

Is there anyone that you would love to meet?

Neil Armstrong. I would have loved to meet him, I would have asked him what it was like to look back at the earth from such a dusty, remote rock surrounded by endless space.

Is there anything that really baffles you?

I can’t understand why people are creatures obsessed with destruction. We destroy the oceans, rainforests, even each other. I know it sounds very ‘hug a tree’ but seriously, will there  be much of this planet left for our children to inherit?

If you had a Super power, what would it be?

I would love to be able to fly like a bird, or in this case Superman, which is ironic really as I hate getting on a plane!

Can you share your best advice?

Don’t let life just pass you by; take the time to record every event life brings, both happy and sad, then learn and adjust. Unless you do this, you will never fully appreciate life as a driver, you will always remain a passenger.
